Indoor smoke comes from oil burning on bare metal at high heat. The stone non-stick coating prevents that contact entirely, and the 5-gear temperature control keeps heat from running away. The result is cooking aroma, not alarm-triggering smoke.

The George Foreman presses food between two plates. This is an open flat surface, like an outdoor grill or a restaurant teppanyaki plate. Food sears without being pressed flat. Completely different cooking experience and the only format that works for KBBQ at the table.
